New Zealand captain Kane Williamson refused to sign the central contract and said that
“Helping the team grow across all formats is something I am very passionate about and I want to continue contributing to that”

“However, pursuing an overseas opportunity during the New Zealand summer means I am unable to accept an offer of a central contract. Playing for New Zealand is priceless to me and my desire to give back to the team remains undiminished. Although my life outside of cricket has changed, spending more time with my family and enjoying experiences with them at home or abroad is even more important to me.”
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has already decided to step down from captaincy from his Test format, but now when the New Zealand team qualified for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024, then Kane Williamson has announced to step down from captaincy from the white ball format as well.
