Rohit Sharma : Under the captaincy of Team India captain Rohit Sharma, the team has made its place in the Super 8 while playing in the T20 World Cup 2024. After making its place in the T20 World Cup 2024, Team India has to play its first Super 8 match against Afghanistan on June 20 at the Barbados ground.

Before this match to be held on the ground of Barbados, the BCCI has taken away the captaincy of the team from the current captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, overnight and given it to Suryakumar Yadav.

For the past few months, media reports have been coming about the current captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, that after the T20 World Cup 2024, captain Rohit Sharma will not be seen playing in the T20 format for the Indian team. Due to which, the responsibility of captaincy of Team India for the Zimbabwe T20 series starting from July 6 can be given to Suryakumar Yadav, the number 1 Indian batsman in the T20 format.

Surya has captained Team India before as well

Team India's veteran batsman Surya Kumar Yadav had earlier captained the team in the Australia and South Africa T20 series held after the 2023 World Cup. In the T20 series against Australia, the Indian team won the series 4-1, while in South Africa, the Indian team drew the series 1-1.
