West Indies batters Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran scripted history by enrolling their names in the list of ‘Players with Most Runs in T20Is’.

The duo achieved this record during the West Indies vs Afghanistan clash in the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 18 in St Lucia. After qualifying for the Super 8 stage both teams faced each other to test their strength who remained unbeaten in their first three games of the group stage.

Though many have created various records in the T20I format, the maximum runs scored in a single over still wanders around the same number since Yuvraj Singh’s 36 in 2007.

In 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh single-handedly struck six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad and created history by scoring 36 runs off an over. So far none of the batters have surpassed his 36 mark in a T20I match.

In 2024 a total of three duos have equalled Yuvraj Singh’s record which was touched only once in 2021 by Kieron Pollard against Sri Lanka.

Karim Janat’s over included one extra run, while Omarzai’s included 10 extras (5 wides, a no-ball and four leg-byes)
