Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi got off to a flying start after being asked to bat first. Saim Ayub scored 30 off 12 and his partner Babar Azam went on to score 53 off 30. The partnership between the duo accounted for 46 off just 3.4 overs. Mohammad Haris also scored 20 off 13 and played a crucial role in helping Peshawar complete hundred runs in just nine overs. Once Babar Azam got out in the 13th over, Quetta bowlers made inroads and reduced Peshawar to 157/8 in 15.4 overs from 100/2 in nine overs. It was the same period when left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein became the sixth bowler to pick a PSL hat-trick. However, Rovman Powell and Naveen-ul-Haq partnered for 39 unbeaten runs off 26 deliveries to propel Peshawar to 196/8 at the end of 20 overs. Powell scored 28 not out runs off 25 balls.
