According to sources, after the win over Ireland, Kirsten was disappointed with the players' fitness levels, skills and lack of awareness of the game and he spoke openly to the players.
Kirsten said, “Our fitness level is not up to the mark. It needs to be increased. The fitness level of the team players is not right. We are far behind the world in skill level despite playing so much cricket. There is no awareness of the game. No one knows which shot to play when.”
According to Pakistani media, Gary Kirsten was also unhappy with the differences among the senior players and their lack of interest in team matters.
During the conversation, Gary also questioned the unity of the team and said, “Ever since I came, I have seen that there is no unity in this team, the right and left are separate, I have worked with many teams and have not seen such a situation.”
The coach expressed disappointment over the team players not being united and not supporting each other and said, “If we have to compete in the world, we have to improve our fitness and skills and be united, whoever improves will be in the team. Otherwise there will be no one in the team.”
There will be many big changes in the Pakistan team!
Star all-rounder Imad Wasim has revealed that the Pakistan team will have to undergo major changes for the journey ahead. He said, “I am not one of those who take decisions about changes in the team, but some changes in the team seem necessary for the journey ahead. I came back from retirement to play the World Cup and thought about how to take the team forward. But nothing could be done.”
