To revolutionise Indian e-sports and online skill gaming, SOG Federation (SOGF) has launched the first Online Skill Games and E-Sports Olympiad. The aim of the Olympiad is to take Indian online skill games and e-sports to global standards. With e-sports being included in the Asian Games and being recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this event is timely and visionary.
The SOG Olympiad will initially feature five games: Rummy, Chess, Bridge, Poker and Ludo. Rummy has been chosen as the inaugural game. It will feature a unique two-tier structure of Zonal and National Olympiads. The Zonal Olympiads will be held in six zones across India: Northern, Central, Southern, Western, Eastern and North-Eastern zones. The Western zone, which comprises Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, will host the first Zonal Olympiad.
Players will first compete in online qualifiers in their zones. The top players from these qualifiers will advance to physical events organised by SOGF in their respective zones. These events will consist of multiple rounds of intense competitions, culminating in the selection of a zonal rummy champion. This process will be repeated across all six zones, thereby identifying and nurturing the best talent from each zone.
The champions from each region will then gather for the National Rummy Olympiad. This grand event will follow a similar competitive structure, where top players will face off in challenging rounds. The ultimate winner will be crowned the National Rummy Olympiad Champion, earning unprecedented recognition and opportunities to compete on international platforms.
Shankar Aggarwal, President, SOG Federation said, 'The SOGF Board strongly believes that together we will change the face of the online gaming sector in India. By creating structured pathways and competitive opportunities, we are paving the way for a brighter future for Indian gamers. This Olympiad is just the beginning, and we are excited to see the incredible talent that will emerge from this initiative.'
