Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac has been removed from his post. The All India Football Federation decided to remove Stimac after a meeting on Monday, June 17. The federation said that Stimac has been removed with immediate effect and he has also been informed about it. (Photo: AFP)
This was being predicted after the recent performance of Team India.
The Indian team lost 1-2 in a controversial fashion against Qatar in the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers and thus failed to reach the third round. (Photo: Getty Images)In the AIFF meeting held on Monday, all the members agreed to remove Stimac, after which the federation issued a statement, which said that in view of Team India's disappointing performance in the World Cup qualification campaign, it was decided that a new coach is needed to take the team forward.

During Stimac's tenure, the Indian team won 4 trophies including 2 SAFF Championships but in the last few months, the team's performance kept deteriorating and for a long time, the team was not able to score a single goal, after which there was a demand for Stimac's removal.
