Whenever the Pakistan cricket team fails in a series or a big tournament, there is a lot of drama after that. This has been going on for the last several years and after being eliminated from the group stage in the T20 World Cup 2024, the same scene is being seen once again. There have been reports of factionalism in the team for the last few months and cases of likes and dislikes in the selection of players have been dominating. Now the head coach of the team, Gary Kirsten, has exposed the dressing room. After Pakistan's last match, Gary Kirsten reprimanded the players fiercely and openly said that there is no unity at all within the team, the relations between the players are not good.
The Pakistani team, which was out of the tournament after the first 3 matches of the T20 World Cup, defeated Ireland in its last match. Pakistan got this victory with great difficulty and lost 7 wickets in making only 107 runs. The journey of the team ended with this match but while leaving America, head coach Kirsten told the players in a strict tone that this is a team only in name but in reality there is no sense of a team in it.
According to Pakistani media reports, after the victory over Ireland, Gary Kirsten returned to his country South Africa, but before leaving he showed the mirror to Babar Azam and his team. The reality of the Pakistani team that Kirsten described is now in front of everyone. Gary Kirsten said that there is a lot of rift among the Pakistani players and there is a lack of unity in the entire team and these things have ruined the team.
It has been told in the report that this is a team only in name but there is no unity like a team. Gary Kirsten said that every player walks on a different path and no one supports each other. Kirsten even said that he has worked with many teams but has never seen such a team before. He also said that many players are greedy for captaincy and vice-captaincy.
Gary Kirsten, who was made the coach of the Pakistani team just before the T20 World Cup, saw the reality of Pakistani players in just about 3 weeks. He said that the players not only lack skills, but also lack game awareness i.e. understanding of the match situation because the players do not know when to play what kind of shot. He said that he will write all these things in his report and send it to the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
