Delhi: So far in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, captain Rohit Sharma and great batsman Virat Kohli have opened the innings for the Indian team, but in any match, the pair of these two has not been able to give India a steady start and in such a situation, star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been made a part of the playing XI in any match so far.
Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that he wants Jaiswal to open for India in the Super 8. Vaughan said that it does not matter who bats at number 3, Kohli or Rohit.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, 49-year-old Michael Vaughan said, “I like Yashasvi Jaiswal. I want him to open. Virat or Rohit at No. 3, I don't care which right-handed batsman goes at No. 3. Shivam Dubey is at No. 5, but in the Caribbean countries I will keep Rishabh Pant.”
For your information, let us tell you that Jaiswal has performed brilliantly in T20 and Test cricket, both of which are the formats in which he has played at the international level so far. The left-handed opener has scored 502 runs in 17 matches as an opener in T20 at a strike rate of 161.93 and an average of 33.46, which includes one century and four half-centuries.
Vaughan called Jaiswal a great player
Vaughan further said, “Yashasvi is a great player. He is such a good batsman that I would like to include him in the team.”
It is worth noting that Yashasvi Jaiswal has earned a lot of praise for his performance in international cricket. He has made many big records for Team India, especially in T20 and Test formats. Now it remains to be seen whether he is included in the playing eleven of the team in blue jersey in the Super-8 stage or not.
