Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood wanted to go easy against the Scotland to eliminate England from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. His statement after the AUS vs NAM clash created controversy with England players reacting to his comment. The preaching of rules and regulations started, with a warning to the Aussie captain Mitchell Marsh.

Pat Cummins and Marsh were forced to issue clarification. And now Mitchell Starc has blamed media for taking Hazlewood’s comment out of context and putting him under the scanner.

Starc slammed the journalists for giving false information. “I think it was blown out of proportion by you people,” Starc said to the media attending his post-match press conference.

“You are not worried about the game of cricket. We are here to win matches. It is international cricket. England are on other side of the draw, so it doesn’t make difference for the next three contests. I still feel you guys didn’t do your job well,” he added.

Starc played against the Scotland affect missing the previous game with Namibia due to a niggle. He said it was better to get a rest now rather than missing a game in the Super 8 stage.

“I had a niggle against Oman and it stuck with me during the England game. I went for scans and was given all clear. The rest against Namibia helped me to recover and I felt alright against Scotland,” he concluded.
