Delhi: The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has brought about a big upheaval in Pakistan cricket. Fans and former players have already raised the demand that Babar Azam should be replaced. There are also rumours that there is a huge fight going on between Babar Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and both of them are not talking to each other. In such a situation, the demand for change in the team has started rising from within the team itself.
Star all-rounder Imad Wasim has revealed that the Pakistan team will have to undergo major changes for the journey ahead. He said, “I am not one of those who take decisions about changes in the team, but some changes in the team seem necessary for the journey ahead. I came back from retirement to play the World Cup and thought about how to take the team forward. But nothing could be done.”
He further said, “The pitches were much more difficult than everyone thought. Such that anyone can beat any team. We have an example in front of us, where Nepal came close to victory. It will happen, but if we change our approach towards competition, we can change it. Due to the defeat, all the players are eager to change their approach. There should be a significant change in the mental side of the game. I am giving my personal opinion. Pakistan is a very good team. Players can play any type of cricket, so it is important to go without fearing defeat. Batting, bowling and fielding should be played without worrying about defeat. Individual changes are not effective. Take advantage of the change in mindset.”
Pakistan out of T20 World Cup 2024
It is worth noting that rain at Lord Hill dashed the hopes of the Pakistanis. The match between America and Ireland in the T20 World Cup was cancelled, after which Pakistan was out of the World Cup. America has qualified for the Super 8 stage along with India from Group A of the T20 World Cup. The story of the Pakistan team has ended after playing three matches. Now Pakistan's match against Ireland on Sunday has become a formality. Earlier, Pakistan had to face defeat from America and India.
