India having already qualified for the Super 8 and will face Canada in their final T20 World Cup 2024 group stage match on Saturday in Lauderhill. Despite the underwhelming batting performance, India’s bowling attack has been the driving force behind their victories.

Rohit Sharma has failed to maintain momentum throughout the tournament. Virat Kohli has struggled in his role as an opener. However, India’s impressive fielding has been a bright spot, marking a significant improvement from previous tournaments.

Prior to the game against Canada, India’s fielding coach T Dilip named the best fielder of his team with a unique response.

“It’s a difficult question with an equally difficult response. As a group, we have performed admirably. If I go into the details, it is encouraging to see that the bowlers have performed superbly,” said Dilip.

“While Jadeja, Kohli, and Rohit are all excellent players, it is encouraging to see the bowlers playing efficiently. All together, it’s mounting up. There will be bowlers at the hotspots, which allows Rohit Sharma flexibility in consistently positioning skillful fielders in ideal locations,” he continued.

In this crucial match, India will look to finalize their team strategy and playing template for the upcoming Super 8 round. Virat Kohli has struggled with the bat so far, scoring only 1, 4, and 0 in the previous matches against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA respectively. He will be eager to regain his form on Saturday.

If Kohli continues to underperform, head coach Rahul Dravid may have a difficult decision to make, potentially demoting Kohli to the number 3 position and giving young Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance to open the innings.
