• Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi has blamed the defeat and raised questions on Babar's captaincy.
  He believes that Babar should not have taken over the captaincy from Shaheen Afridi. He said
• ,If Shaheen Afridi's captaincy had been decided and you had said that he would remain the captain till the T20 World Cup, then I think Babar Azam should have supported Shaheen in terms of captaincy and the PCB should have said that 'No, if you have made him the captain, then we are ready to play under his captaincy because Shaheen has been playing with me for a long time.
• If he is made the captain and the selection committee has made him the captain, then yes I will support him and play under his captaincy."

The captaincy was taken away after one series

• In fact, Pakistan's performance was also poor in the ODI World Cup 2024.
  The team did not even ensure its place till the semi-finals.
• Babar was the captain in this tournament. After this tournament, he was removed from the captaincy and Shaheen Afridi was given the captaincy.
