Delhi: The Afghanistan cricket team has suffered a major setback amid the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

In fact, the team's young spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been ruled out of the mega tournament due to injury. In his place, star batsman Hazratullah Zazai has been included in the Afghanistan squad.

Instead of a spinner, the Rashid Khan-led team preferred to bring depth in the batting. Zazai has scored 1139 runs in 43 matches in his international T20 career, which includes a century and three half-centuries.

Along with this, his personal best score is 162 runs. The Afghan team has qualified for the Super 8. There they will face teams like India and Australia.

Who is Pakistan's superstar player?

Afghanistan cricket team captain Rashid Khan revealed that he calls left-arm fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi the 'superstar' of the team. Farooqi is in excellent form for Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The pacer has played a key role in his team reaching the Super 8 stage. Farooqi is the highest wicket-taker in the current tournament so far, taking 12 wickets in 3 matches.

Farooqi was once again the match winner for Afghanistan during the match against Papua New Guinea at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Friday. He shook the top order of PNG by taking 2 wickets in a row in his second over. He was named Player of the Match for taking 3 wickets.

In a video posted on social media by the ICC, Rashid said, “I think he is a superstar for us, the way he has performed for us, we call him a superstar and it is great to see him back in form.

He was struggling a bit earlier, but I think this is something that gives us a lot of foundation. A strong foundation, where he started with the ball and got some successes.”
