Lucknow: In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, legendary batsman Virat Kohli has opened the innings in all the three matches played so far. Earlier, he was batting at number three for most of his career, but in this tournament, the Indian team management had decided to make Kohli open. After Virat came out as an opener, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant was given a chance at number three. He performed well at this position and has played important innings for the team.

Virat has failed as an opening batsman so far as he has been able to score only 5 runs in the three matches played so far. Virat was out after scoring 1 run against Ireland in the first match, after this he could score only 4 runs against Pakistan, while he was out on zero against the United States. In such a situation, while talking on Hotstar on this matter, former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth believes that Kohli will be happy with Pant's performance. Sreesanth has given a big statement during the discussion.

He said, “Rishabh Pant is a player who can fit in any situation. We have seen him batting at different numbers and he is a great player. I think if Virat goes back to batting at number three again, Pant will be very happy with this. Pant plays the ball, not the situation or the bowler. I think this is a quality that all youngsters should have.”

Sreesanth further said that “The way Team India is performing this time, it reminds you of the 2007 T20 World Cup. This time Pakistan may be out of the World Cup and India is moving ahead. The way Jasprit Bumrah and other players have performed has been fantastic. If anyone can challenge India, it is Australia and I think these two teams are going to the finals as well.”
