Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Haris Rauf made history in T20Is as he became the fastest to 100 wickets in the format. The right-arm pacer attained the milestone in Pakistan’s crucial Group A contest against Canada in Match 22 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.

Notably, Rauf also became the third-fastest bowler overall to the landmark of 100 scalps after spinners Rashid Khan (53) and Wanindu Hasaranga (63). Rauf also became the second Pakistan bowler after Shadab Khan to take 100 T20I scalps. He is also the first pacer to do so.

Rauf, who bowled an expensive first over, conceded 13 from his final three overs to finish with 2/26 in four overs. He played a key role in helping the Pakistan side to restrict Canada to 106/7 in 20 overs on a bowling-friendly surface in Long Island. In response, the Canadian team saw Pakistan keep their hopes alive to gain a Super 8 berth. Pakistan scored 107/3, and Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 53. Babar Azam scored 33 as well.

With his two scalps versus Canada, he has 30 wickets across neutral venues now.

In ICC T20 World Cup history, Rauf owns a total of 22 wickets across 16 games at an average of 19.54 (ER: 7.16). In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, he has managed six wickets across three matches at an average of 14. Overall, Rauf has managed 260 wickets in T20 cricket from a total of 193 matches.

Mark Adair (72 matches)

Ireland’s Mark Adair, who made his debut in 2019, became the fastest pacer to 100 T20I scalps back in December 2023 against Zimbabwe. He got to the mark in his 72nd match. Ireland scored 147/8 but suffered a defeat to Zimbabwe, who claimed a thrilling one-wicket win. Adair took 2/26 in that match. The senior Ireland pacer has 121 wickets from 85 matches at an average of 19.42. He is the only Ireland bowler to claim 100-plus scalps in T20Is. His economy rate is 7.71. In 121 T20 matches, Adair has claimed 164 scalps at 19.62.

Bilal Khan (72 matches)

Oman’s Bilal Khan completed 100 T20I scalps in his 72nd match. Bilal achieved the feat at the ACC Men’s Premier Cup against the United Arab Emirates. Oman secured a nine-wicket win in that match after restricting UAE to 142/5. Bilal was superb against UAE in that match. He took 3/11 in three overs. Nine of his 18 deliveries were dot balls. In 78 T20Is, the 37-year-old experienced campaigner has claimed 109 wickets at 17.27. In 103 T20s, Bilal owns 137 scalps at an average of 18.77.

Lasith Malinga (76 matches)

Former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga got to 100 T20I wickets in his 76th outing. He attained the milestone back in September 2019 against New Zealand. The SL pacer took a match-winning fifer in that contest. He managed 5/6 from his four overs (1 maiden). In a low-scoring match, NZ were bundled out for 88 after Sri Lanka scored 125/8. Malinga finished with 107 scalps from 84 T20Is at 20.79. Overall, he managed 390 wickets in T20 cricket at 19.68.

Mustafizur Rahman (81 matches)

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman got to 100 T20I wickets from his 81st match. He reached the mark versus England in March 2023. Bangladesh managed 158/2 in 20 overs. England scored 142/6 to lose by 16 runs. Mustafizur was brilliant. He took 1/14 from his four overs. In 98 T20Is, Mustafizur has 123 scalps at 21.32. The experienced campaigner has played 256 T20s, claiming 323 scalps at 21.29.

Tim Southee (84 matches)

New Zealand’s veteran pacer Tim Southee took 84 matches to reach the mark of 100 scalps. The right-arm pacer got to the milestone in a match versus Pakistan at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He picked 1/25 in that match, but Pakistan won the contest. Southee is the top wicket-taker in T20Is. He owns 157 scalps from 123 matches at 23.15. He is the only bowler with 150-plus wickets in T20Is. Overall, in T20s, Southee has managed 312 wickets at 24.77.
