Gujarat Giants batter Harleen Deol is ruled out for the remainder of the WPL 2024 after sustaining an injury.
Harleen Deol injured her left knee while fielding against UP Warriorz a couple of matches ago.
And on Thursday (March 7), it was confirmed that the Indian batter will not play any part for the Giants this season. She has been enduring a torrid period with bat. In the three matches Deol played, she could only manage 48 runs. The Giants have replaced Deol with Bharti Fulmali, a 29-year-old batter who has already played for India. She played 2 T20Is for India Women in 2019 and plies her trade with Vidarbha in domestic cricket. It has come as a surprise as Fulmali has been off the field for a long time. Her last domestic appearance came back in 2021 and she didn't even participate in the WPL 2023. Harleen's injury means the Giants now have their third player ruled out from the tournament. Kashvee Gautam got ruled out earlier while Australian bowler Lauren Cheatle had to withdraw due to a medical procedure. Giants are currently at the bottom of the table but managed to win their first match of the season by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore Women in the last match.
