Pakistan‘s chances of advancing to the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 received a boost after their first tournament win against Canada and India‘s victory over the USA.

However, Pakistan’s fate is not yet sealed. They must defeat Ireland in their final match, while the United States of America should go down to the Irish side . Additionally, Pakistan will hope for favorable weather conditions and they received a major boost on Thursday.

Florida is set to host three crucial games over the next three days. On Friday, the USA will face Ireland.

The contest between India and Canada is on Saturday, before the crucial Pakistan-Ireland clash on Sunday.. If the USA prevail or the first match is washed out, the co-hosts will advance to the next round alongside India from Group A. If Ireland upset the USA, Pakistan will then join India in the Super Eights, provided they defeat the Irish side.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, Fort Lauderdale remained dry till the late afternoon, though there was a slight rain in the evening. The warnings for flash floods are still in place.

“Not many people left the hotel. However, the ground was dry.

There were some wet areas on the far side, but overall the ground was in pretty good shape in the last 24 hours,” Ireland all-rounder Mark Adair said.

USA opener and Florida native, Steven Taylor, had nothing but appreciation for Central Broward Park Stadium’s drainage system.

“The stadium has always had good drainage from when I was a child. Therefore, we constantly pray that there will be cricket the next day after it stops raining. Still, the weather cannot be stopped. Therefore, we just need to deal with whatever comes up,” Taylor remarked.

In addition to the USA and Pakistan, Ireland and Canada have a chance of advancing to the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.

However, Ireland will need to not only defeat both the USA and Pakistan, but do so by sizable margins to surpass those teams in net run rate and secure a spot. Meanwhile, Canada’s path involves hoping that Ireland beat the USA, and then Canada pulling off an upset victory over India on Saturday to progress to the next round.
