Team India reached Super-8, yet there was a demand to remove this player

Team India has taken the first step to end the 11-year-long title drought. In the challenging conditions of New York, Team India has made its place in the Super-8 by winning 3 consecutive matches in the first round of the T20 World Cup 2024. The fast bowlers have played a special role in the success of Team India, which won 3 consecutive matches in the group stage, but now as soon as they reach the Super-8, there is talk of dropping one of these bowlers. This bowler is Mohammad Siraj, whom former Team India captain Anil Kumble wants to see out of the playing eleven.

Team India defeated America by 7 wickets in its third match and booked a ticket to the next round. In this match, Mohammad Siraj conceded 25 runs in 4 overs but did not get any wicket. Despite this, Team India won and now former great bowler Anil Kumble is not in favour of keeping him in the playing eleven.

Arshdeep remains the second pacer, Siraj out

After Team India's victory against America, during a discussion on ESPN-Cricinfo show, Anil Kumble expressed his views on this issue and said that Siraj will have to be dropped from the playing eleven. But it is not that Kumble doubts Siraj's ability. Actually, the reason behind Kumble's statement is Team India's entry into the Super-8. The matches of this round will be played in the Caribbean and the pitches here are helpful for spinners.

In such a situation, Kumble believes that if Team India goes with only 2 fast bowlers, then they should field Arshdeep Singh along with Jasprit Bumrah. That means Siraj will have to sit out. Praising Arshdeep, Kumble said that the way he bowled especially against Pakistan and the form he is in and being a left-handed bowler, he brings a different variety, he proves to be a better option for the team.

How has the performance been?

Arshdeep has performed consistently well in the tournament so far. He has taken wickets in all three matches and has taken 7 wickets so far. Out of this, he took 4 wickets for just 9 runs against America. On the other hand, Siraj has consistently bowled economically but has not got any wickets. He has been able to take only 1 wicket in 3 matches. In such a situation, he seems to be lagging behind in the position of two fast bowlers.
