The weather in Delhi will be in focus as India take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series in the national capital. The series opener is scheduled to be played on Sunday, with the monsoon in Delhi bringing much-needed relief to the people in the last few days. As the two teams get ready for the games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the fans would be hoping to see an uninterrupted contest between the bat and the ball. As per AccuWeather, there is a 64 percent chance of rain, and the downpour is likely to impact the game.

The match will start at 7 pm, and given the weather prediction, a threat looms over the proceedings.

Till 12 noon, there is a 10 percent chances of rain, but from 1 pm, the precipitation chances reach the 50 percent mark. By 6 pm, the chances come down to 40 percent, while at 7 they decline to 37 percent.

The rain forecast increases to 40 percent in the next two hours before dropping to 37 percent at 10 pm and 34 percent at 11 pm. The match is expected to see a result but rain can play a big role.

India will welcome Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI, with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson and Axar Patel also returning to the squad after missing the Zimbabwe series.

The BCCI’s medical panel at the CoE recently cleared Bumrah, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy, but Harshit Rana was ruled out due to a rectus femoris strain, with Yash Thakur named as his replacement.

The series is Shreyas Iyer’s first assignment on home soil despite Afghanistan being the host nation. He led India in Ireland, England and Zimbabwe after getting the captain’s armband.

India lost to Ireland 0-2 and suffered a heavy defeat by a margin of 0-4 against England before bouncing back in three games in Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue defeated the Sikandar Raza-led team 3-0.
