The opening T20I is officially scheduled for September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. However, the timing has created a potential logistical challenge as Delhi prepares to host the BRICS Leaders' Summit on September 12 and 13.

The BRICS Summit will bring several world leaders and high-profile delegations to the capital, prompting Delhi authorities to put extensive security arrangements in place.

Around 15,000 police personnel and 200 paramilitary units have reportedly been deployed across the city, with hundreds of CCTV cameras and additional security measures being introduced ahead of the summit.

With the summit's security operation coinciding with the India-Afghanistan opener, the availability of adequate security personnel for the cricket match has emerged as a concern.

Reports suggest the first T20I could therefore be moved to another date if the required security arrangements cannot be provided.

However, there has been no official confirmation yet that the match will be rescheduled. The BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board currently continue to list September 13 as the date for the opening game.

The three-match series is scheduled to be played entirely at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with Afghanistan serving as the official host despite the matches being held in India.

The second T20I is scheduled for September 15, followed by the third match on September 17.
