Veteran India batter KL Rahul’s future speculation with Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027 is grabbing headlines. There were reports of the player moving out of the franchise before the 20th season. However, Parth Jindal, the co-owner of the franchise, has ended all the rumours.
Jindal took to his X handle and wrote, “KL IS KLUTCH FOR Delhi Capitals- one of the nicest guys i know and one who puts the team before himself always. We have unfinished business and will work hard together to make Delhi proud.”
Rahul, who was last seen playing the Test series against Sri Lanka, responded to the tweet and wrote: “Thank you, can’t waiting for the coming season.” Delhi fans will be keenly waiting for the upcoming season as Rishabh Pant returns to the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The 28-year-old was traded from the Lucknow Super Giants, with Kuldeep Yadav going the other way. Pant, who was bought for INR 27 crore ahead of the 2025 auction, was the costliest player in the history of the league. The southpaw was also handed the captaincy of the team, but the two seasons were below par for the player or the side.
The team owned by Sanjeev Goenka ended up at the bottom of the table in IPL 2026, and he was visibly upset on many occasions. Rishabh Pant will also take over the wicketkeeping duties.
Capitals and Punjab Kings are the only two franchises from the inaugural season of the tournament who haven’t won an IPL title to date. DC came close in 2020 when they reached the final but lost to Mumbai Indians.
Delhi purchased the Karnataka batter for INR 14 crore during the 2025 auction. The right-handed batter had also led Lucknow for a few seasons before his exit.
In 2025, Rahul played 13 games and scored 539 runs with one century and three fifties. His score of 112 not out against Gujarat Titans at home went in vain as the visitors won the game by ten wickets.
In IPL 2026, the batter amassed 593 runs with one century and five half-centuries. KL scored 152 not out against his former side PBKS.
