The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t like false practices, and the players are punished for breaking the rules. In the recent crackdown on age fraud, the Indian board has banned leg-spin bowler Rohit Yadav for two years after it came to light that the player had fudged his age.

Rohit recently played for the India Under-19 side during the tour of Sri Lanka and took six wickets in the Youth Test match in July. The player was caught after three different birth certificates, one showing he was born in 2007, while his birth year was 2009 and 2010 in the other two.

Cricket Association of Bengal didn’t include the player in its various age-group level matches and also brought the matter to the board’s notice. The BCCI has banned the player for 24 months and has also notified all the state cricket associations.

CAB has found 60 players who have fudged their age. Ravi Kumar Singh, who is a left-arm seamer, and Vishal Bhati, who has played three first-class and two List A games, are also on the List of players with discrepancies.

Ravi, who played under Yash Dhull in the 2022 World Cup Final, picked up four wickets in that game. He dismissed England batters Jacob BethellJames Rew, Tom Aspinall, and skipper Tom Prest.

Vishal made his debut for Bengal against Punjab at the Eden Gardens stadium. The left-handed batter scored 11 runs and went wicketless. His last game was against Railways, where he scored 36 and picked up a wicket.

Players banned by the BCCI for age fraud

Manjot Kalra, who scored a century for the India under-19 side in the 2018 World Cup, was banned by the Indian Cricket Board. Kalra was born in January 1998, and he was 20 years of age at the time of playing the global tournament rather than 1999, as stated. DDCA suspended the player, but Manjot was eventually cleared.

He was also in the news for reported match-fixing attempts with a few current Sri Lanka players ahead of the Lanka Premier League 2026. Manjot played with the likes of Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shawand Shivam Mavi.
