Delhi: India Under-19 team's leg spinner Rohit Yadav has been banned for two years for violating age- rules. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) confirmed this on 4 September. It was told that during the pre-season document verification of the association, a discrepancy to Rohit's date of birth came to light.

Rohit has also been dropped from the Indian team for the upcoming series against Australia Under-19. He was part of the India Under-19 team that went on the Sri Lanka tour in July. There is a difference of 27 months in the age of Rohit, who has played age group cricket for Bengal. The ban has been implemented with immediate effect and its information has been sent to all the state associations associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Rohit will not be able to play against Australia

Rohit was to get a chance to play in five ODI and two multi-day matches against Australia Under-19 at the end of this month. After age action, he will no longer be able to take part in these matches.

Bengal Cricket Association has taken action against a total of 65 players for violating age rules. These include the name of fast bowler Ravi Kumar of India's 2022 Under-19 World Cup winning team. There is a difference of more than 40 months in the age of Ravi.
