India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has dropped down to third spot in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings for Bowlers. He was ruled out of the two-Test series in Sri Lanka due to a knee injury, with Australia great Mitchell Starc going past him last week and New Zealand seamer Matt Henry this week.

Team India speedsters Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna improved their rankings after taking wickets in Sri Lanka. Siraj picked up four wickets at an average of under 26 and is in the 17th spot in the latest updated Test rankings.

Prasidh made a jump of eight places to enter the top 50 after his seven wickets in two red-ball games at an average of 24.57. He is in 45th place at the moment.

For Sri Lanka, young batter Sonal Dinusha rose by 29 spots to reach 25th in the bowlers’ rankings. The 25-year-old scored three hundreds, including two in the Colombo Test as Sri Lanka managed to draw the contest.

He was named the Player of the Match and amassed 420 runs at an average of 140. However, the host nation lost the series by a margin of 0-1.

Meanwhile, Manav Suthar, who took 16 wickets at an average of 21.06, made a jump of four spots to reach the 44th spot. He claimed 10 scalps in the series opener in Galle.

Shubman Gill suffers a drop in the batters rankings

Team India captain Shubman Gill suffered a drop in the Test Rankings for Batters. The 26-year-old was not at his best in the first game of the bilateral assignment. He managed a fifty in India’s only innings of the second and final Test.

Overall, he scored 74 runs in three innings at an average of less than 25. He lost his place in the rankings and is now ranked ninth.

India’s best batter in the Sri Lanka series, Devdutt Padikkal, made significant movement in the ranking chart. He rose five spots to reach 54th. The left-handed batter accumulated 328 runs, including two centuries at an average of 109.33. He was named the Player of the Series for his terrific batting display in away five-day games.

Dhruv Jurel’s stocks also improved as he made a jump of 18th spots to be placed at the 65th spot in the rankings. The wicket-keeper batter posted 173 runs at an average of 86.50, including a hundred and a half-century against the rivals.
