New Delhi. The Indian team has been announced for the T20 series against Afghanistan. The command of the 15-member squad will be in the hands of Shreyas Iyer. This series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where all three matches will be held. The special thing is that the Afghanistan team will be seen playing as the host. Just before the Asian Games, the Indian team is considering this series as the real test of its preparations.

Shreyas Iyer will captain the team in this series. Earlier, under his leadership, India had to face defeat in the T20 series against Ireland and England, while the team had won against Zimbabwe. Now his priority will be to gain confidence before the Asian Games by performing better against Afghanistan. 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is considered a rising star of Indian cricket, has also been included in the team.

All eyes on injured players

This squad also includes some faces who are currently recovering from injuries. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana are currently rehabbing at BCCI's Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. He has been kept in the team on the basis of fitness and will be able to join the team only after getting the green signal from the medical team.

When and where will the matches be played?

The first T20 against Afghanistan will be played on 13 September, the second on 15 September and the third match on 17 September. All matches will be played from 7 pm Indian time.
