India all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been declared fit and are available for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. According to TOI, the Men in Blue will feel confident going into the new bilateral assignment. Meanwhile, Hardik and Nitish could play a part against Afghanistan.

TOI also reported that Washington Sundar, who was in Chennai over the weekend, is expected to head back to the Centre of Excellence (CoE). The selection committee is set to pick the side for the Afghanistan series this week. jasprit bumrah could miss three matches, but he is likely to play in the Asian Games 2026 tournament.

“Target for Sundar is to return to white-ball formats. His workload has increased in the last few weeks, and he could be available for the Afghanistan series. Reddy and Pandya have been at the CoE for a long time and only take breaks for personal commitments,” a BCCI source told TOI.

“Bumrah is progressing well. Keeping the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind, the plan was to focus on ODIs and Tests first, but since the knee injury, the team management wants him to play the shortest format first. He is being monitored. The Afghanistan series could be too close for availability, and theAsian Games seem more likely,” the source added.

When will India’s squad for the Afghanistan series be picked?

The team for the Afghanistan series could be picked on 3rd September. The three-match series is set to begin on 13th September, with the second and third games scheduled on 15th and 17th September. All of the matches will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
