Anil Kumble heaped praise on Krunal Pandya for his masterful knock in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Krunal won the Player of the Match award after he scored an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, laced with five fours and four sixes.

On the back of his knock, The southpaw came to bat at a stage when the visitors were struggling at 26 for three in four overs. From there on, he and Virat Kohli put on 119 runs for the fourth wicket, guiding RCB past the finish line.

Kumble said that Krunal took his time to settle down before taking the attack to the opposition spinners.

The veteran leg-spinner said that Krunal has well and truly lived up to the expectations of the RCB team management.

"I think his judgment of the situation was excellent. When he walked in, RCB were 26 for 3. He knew he had to build a partnership with Virat Kohli, which he did once he settled in. When the spinners came on, he backed himself to attack if the ball was in his arc, and it worked because he was playing well and understood the pitch and conditions. It was an excellent knock," Kumble told ESPNcricinfo.

"Clearly, the RCB management wanted Krunal to step up. This situation was similar to how things unfolded at Chinnaswamy Stadium during their first three games, where they struggled to put a team performance together. It was crucial that someone built a partnership, and Krunal put his hand up," Kumble added.

Krunal was also brilliant with the ball after he got the wicket of Faf du Plessis to finish with figures of 4-0-28-1. RCB's next match is against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 3."Clearly, the RCB management wanted Krunal to step up.
