Delhi: Chennai Super Kings had a strong start in IPL 2025, but after this the team has lost the rhythm of victory. First Royal Challengers Bangalore and now Rajasthan Royals have increased their troubles by defeating Chennai. In the match against Rajasthan, 20 runs were needed from the last six balls, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni was dismissed on the first ball and after that CSK lost by 6 runs.

Gaikwad explained the reason for defeat

After the defeat from Rajasthan, Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed his displeasure.

He said, “The match went out of our hands in the powerplay. Nitish Rana batted brilliantly, but we were not as cautious in the fielding. We should have forced them to play directly, but he made most of the run behind the square. Our fielding also made some mistakes, which made 8-10 runs.”

He further said, “The target of 180 runs could have been made. The wicket was good and if the shots were used in the gap, it could be easily scored. When Rajasthan was moving towards 210 runs, we did it well by stopping them at 180.

But we are not able to start well. If we start, we can play differently.”

Captain spoke on Chennai's bowling

Gaikwad said about the bowling, “Noor Ahmed is constantly doing well, Khalil Ahmed is also bowling well and Jadeja Bhai's performance has also been great. We just need to come in the rhythm. As soon as our bowling and batting will click together, we will become a strong team.”

The second consecutive defeat for Chennai Super Kings is a matter of concern, but Gaikwad is confident that his team will return soon.
