With an impressive performance from Noor Ahmad, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra, Chennai Super Kings won their first game of the season by beating Mumbai by four wickets.
Mumbai Indians still struck in their failure in the first match jinx as the five-times champions failed to win their opening game of the season since 2012. Notably, Mumbai played their first game of the season without their key players – Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
Speaking of the match, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to field first.
Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings for Mumbai Indians while Khaleel Ahmed opened the bowling attack for CSK.In the very first over, Khaleel dismissed Rohit Sharma for a duck and made an impressive start for his new franchise. With the duck-out dismissal, Rohit Sharma joins the list of players with the most ducks in IPL.

Following Rohit’s dismissal, Will Jacks too got dismissed without making an impact on the scoreboard.
Ashwin dismissed Will Jacks for 11 runs and opened his account in the IPL 2025 season.Though Mumbai lost a couple of wickets at an early stage, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav with their impressive knocks pushed MI to score 52 runs at the end of the first powerplay.
The duo went on to make some crucial shots and pushed the team’s score to 82 at the end of 10 overs. Noor Ahmad in the very next over dismissed Yadav for 29 runs and broke the settled partnership.
Noor Ahmad in the 13th over bagged a couple of wickets by dismissing Robin Minz(9) and Tilak Varma(31) and loaded the pressure on the Mumbai Indian’s batting lineup.
With Deepak Chahar’s 15 balls 28 runs, Mumbai managed to score 155 runs for nine wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.
While chasing, Rachin Ravindra opened the inning along with Rahul Tripathi while Trent Boult opened the inning on behalf of Mumbai Indians. Deepak Chahar in his very first over made a breakthrough by dismissing Tripathi for just two runs.
After an early dismissal, Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra started to add runs for CSK.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad’s attacking strikes, CSK reached 62 runs after losing a wicket at the end of the first powerplay.Mumbai Indians introduce their newly purchased Vignesh Puthur to bowl the eighth over of the inning. MI’s INR 30 lakh purchase made an impressive performance in his maiden game by dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad for 53 runs.
In his next over, Vignesh Puthur dismissed Shivam Dube for 9 runs and turned things upside down for Chennai. At the end of 10 overs, CSK scored 96 runs for three-wicket loss.
Vignesh Puthur continued his aggression and went on to bag another wicket in the 12th over by dismissing Hooda for three runs.
Will Jacks in his final over of the inning dismissed Sam Curran for four runs and loaded pressure over the CSK batting lineup.Jadeja and Rachin started to execute a steady inning and led CSK to a safer position. While the duo was expected to finish the game, Jadeja lost his wicket via runout dismissal while MS Dhoni made his way onto the pitch.
With a six of the first delivery of the final over, Rachin guides CSK to register their maiden victory of the season.
