Former India skipper Virat Kohli has been in great batting form this year. The 38-year-old has scored 633 runs from 11 ODI innings so far. He scored a match-winning 74 in the opening ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday and also became the first batter to go past 13,000 runs at no.3.
Ex-Indian wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya, during a recent chat with Times of India, said that he would love to have Kohli play domestic cricket. The 53-year-old stated that having the Indian batting icon in the dressing room could be a huge boost for the youngster in the side.
“If Kohli wants to play, Iwould love to have him in the dressing room and have him talk to the youngsters. I wouldn’t let him go back home. I will make him sit in the changing room and tell all the other boys about his journey. I will also tell about the hard work he has put in, as well as his ethics and the honour of playing for India.”
He also added, “I have seen Virat through all the stages of his career, and it will be a great chance for me to tell the other members of the side how he started his career and where Kohli has reached today. One cannot become Virat Kohli, but can achieve better things if they go about things the right way.”
RCB star played two Vijay Hazare Trophy games last season and scored 208 runs. His first match was against Andhra Pradesh, where the batter scored 101-ball 131 and followed it up with quickfire 77 vs Gujarat in the next match.
Rohit Sharma is also set to play for Mumbai after the ODI series against Sri Lanka. It would be a great chance for fans in Delhi to see their idol in action if he does return to domestic cricket.
Former Ranji champions Delhi are fifth in the Elite Group C with seven points from four games after the drawn encounter against Services. The game in Palam saw Ayush Badoni‘s side needing 276 runs to win the game.
Yash Dhull played an amazing knock and was not out on a run-a-ball 104, with the help of eleven boundaries and two sixes. The chasing side were able to bat just 37 overs and scored 168 runs for the loss of four wickets before the captains shook hands.
