Delhi:A big trade has been seen before the IPL 2027 auction. In this trade between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, both the teams have exchanged their players. England's dangerous all-rounders Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards have become part of Chennai Super Kings, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis have joined SRH.

Liam Livingstone was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a huge amount in the IPL 2026 auction. Now he will be seen playing for Chennai. CSK will hope that his experience and all-round game will help the team reach the playoffs next season.

CSK team can benefit a lot from the arrival of Livingstone. Let us know three such reasons, due to which he can prove to be a masterstroke for CSK before IPL 2027.

3. Livingstone can prove to be a better option than Matt Short

During IPL 2026, CSK had included Matt Short among its four foreign players on several occasions. The Australian player certainly performed well on a few occasions, but failed to make a consistent impact throughout the season. While he had trouble saving runs against batsmen like Abhishek Sharma, he was also seen struggling against spin bowlers while batting.

On the other hand, Liam Livingstone is counted among the better players of T20 cricket. His biggest specialty is that he can play at different numbers in the batting order. Apart from this, he can bowl both leg spin and off spin. This will give CSK an additional option in bowling as per the need. They can help the team in its strategy against different batsmen.

2. Livingstone's deal for Rs 6 crore is profitable

Liam Livingstone's price has come down to Rs 6 crore, which can be considered a good deal considering his ability. If Chennai Super Kings had included him in the team at the amount of his old contract, then its budget would have been greatly affected. But at the current price this trade seems to be a profitable deal for CSK.

Good all-rounders are not easily found in T20 cricket. Livingstone can contribute in bowling along with batting. In such a situation, he can justify his current price. Not only this, if Chennai comes out with a different team combination in some matches and Livingstone does not get a place in the playing eleven, then still the team will not suffer any loss in spending a lot of money on him.

1. Need for a strong batsman against fast bowlers in the middle order.

Chennai Super Kings has batsmen like Karthik Sharma, Shivam Dubey and Dewald Brevis in the middle order, who can score fast runs against spin bowlers. However, the team also needs a batsman who can handle the pace and short balls of fast bowlers well.

Liam Livingstone can overcome this deficiency to a great extent. He has the ability to play big shots against fast bowlers. Although, he cannot be included among the best batsmen in the world in this matter, but he definitely has the skill to strengthen the middle order of CSK.

If Chennai plays him in the lower middle order with Jamie Overton and MS Dhoni, then it will not be easy for the opposing teams to stop the runs on the basis of fast bowlers. In this way, the presence of Livingstone can make CSK's batting stronger and more dangerous.
