As expected from the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, the stylish batter went past the three-figure mark with ease. Chasing a century on an overcast day at Hagley Oval in Canterbury, the left-handed opener hit the ball over the ropes to notch up a magnificent century in first-class cricket against New Zealand A.
After some uncertainty hung over the stylish batter's head during their New Zealand tour, Jaiswal hit a 17, 5 and a silver duck in his first three innings. It left the 24-year-old looking for a touch of form on the seam-friendly tracks. With India facing a vital two-test series against New Zealand from the 19th of November, it is pivotal that he gets on a roll.
Yashasvi Jaiswal started Day 4 at an unbeaten 20 and played a masterclass innings of controlled aggression.
Counter-Attack: He scored his century in only 119 balls as he hit 11 boundaries and 4 towering sixes.
Big Score: He upped his game to score a blistering century and finished on 155 from 162 balls.
Partnership: He combined well with Yash Rathod (who also scored three figures) to take India A to 282/2 from 52.4 overs.
“It was a great way to pass the milestone with a six, showing that I have regained my confidence for a tough international assignment.”
Jaiswal has not had the best summer on the international stage so far, meaning this innings is crucial for his mindset going into playing for the senior Black Caps side.

New Zealand is known for providing an ideal trial for the top order, offering early swing, high bounce and swinging white balls. Jaiswal brings an aggressive style of play, but he must find the balance in this series to play with boldness without losing discipline.
Although he only scored one century at home, the amount of time he batted and the dominance he showed in scoring 155 provide him and the Indian team management with a huge sigh of relief. With the main Test series on the horizon, India's energetic opener has found his rhythm at the right time.
