India secured a successful road show after winning the three-match T20I series by 3-2 against New Zealand despite suffering a seven-wicket loss in the last game of the series at Seddon Park. Shreyas Iyer's team have now won two consecutive series after defeating the West Indies at home.
There is some subtle transition going on.
With the next T20 World Cup in Australia & New Zealand around 2 years away, Indian team management are certainly not taking their laurels lightly. They have added Nitish Kumar Reddy, Naman Dhir, Prince Yadav & Mayank Yadav to their squad seamlessly. There is a clear shift towards a faster-paced, high-scoring unit with additional pace and power.
Shivam Dube has been replaced.
Shivam was a key player in the heart of India's power play but failed to see any game time throughout the NZ tour.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has helped accelerate Dube's fall from grace. Unlike Shivam, NKR can offer consistency and four overs with his ability to hit from the top six. He took out Tim Seifert for 93 and was our most economical bowler in Hamilton. Naman Dhir is providing a quick start which means Shivam has fallen down the order. Once Hardik Pandya comes back from injury, it'll be even harder for him.

Naman Dhir's blistering strike rate of 214.63 exemplifies the attacking approach that India's management is looking for from lower middle order players. Unless he can alter his strike rate in the white-ball formats, Sundar's path back to the T20I team may be difficult.
Looking Ahead
The Indian side proved their depth by winning the series against New Zealand 3-2, but have also indicated how they will move forward. Dube, Chakravarthy and Sundar will need to quickly adjust to perform well domestically in order to find a spot back in the playing XI.
