'Can't wait': Jemimah Rodrigues gives big 'life update' on anniversary of famous World Cup knock vs Australia
India top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues on Friday announced that she had recovered from the hamstring injury she suffered in August and was ready to return to action.
Rodrigues injured her hamstring on August 3 while playing for English franchise Southern Brave in The Hundred. The BCCI medical team subsequently ruled her out of the T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan. She also missed India's recently concluded white-ball series against Zimbabwe at home.
In an Instagram post, the 26-year-old confirmed that she had completed her recovery after three months of rehabilitation.
"Life Update: HAMSTRING HAS BEEN DECLARED FIT!!!!!!!! After 3 months of rehab. Now I can't wait to get going," she wrote.
The Indian women's team's next assignment is a multi-format tour of South Africa in December. Rodrigues could also feature for Mumbai in the ongoing Senior Women's T20 Trophy .
Her return to fitness comes on the first anniversary of her unbeaten 127 against Australia in the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup semi-final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Her innings helped India reach the final, where they went on to win the title.
India were chasing 339 in that semi-final but lost both openers early. Rodrigues then joined captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored 89, and the pair added 167 runs for the third wicket to bring India back into the contest. Rodrigues remained unbeaten as India completed the chase with nine balls to spare.
She also had some luck during the innings. Then-Australia captain Alyssa Healy dropped her on 82, while Australia lost a review soon after when an lbw appeal off Alana King's bowling was turned down.
Rodrigues' 127 not out off 134 balls remains the highest individual score by an Indian women's batter in an ODI chase. The innings also ended Australia's run of 15 consecutive wins at Women's ODI World Cups.
