As WPL franchises gear up for the 2026 auction, key decisions were taken in boardrooms across the league. While player movement is inevitable within a franchising model, some of the players who have been released from the squads are high-value players being let go at a minuscule price.

5 players can be considered high-value assets who may well return to cause problems for their previous WPL teams

1. Grace Harris (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

Release Price: ₹75 Lakh

WPL Stats: 818 Runs & 15 Wickets

The most baffling of all releases during this cycle is Royal Challengers Bengaluru losing experienced big-hitter Grace Harris from Australia for only ₹75 lakh. The Australian has been prolific in the WPL, scoring 818 runs and taking 15 wickets. In 2025, Grace was a sensational lower/middle order finisher in the WPL, smashing 237 runs at an insane strike rate of 178.19. It would be a massive gamble for RCB to lose such a versatile international match-winner for such little money.

2.Chloe Tryon (UP Warriors)

Release/Base Price: ₹30 Lakh

T20I Stats: 1422 Runs & 51 Wickets

South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon has returned to the auction block for the incredibly cheap base price of ₹30 Lakh. UP Warriorz' loss is due to Chloe being quite inexperienced, playing only five matches during her time in the WPL. But internationally, she brings some real elite level T20 experience. Chloe has scored over 1400 runs and taken 51 wickets for her country in T20Is. Any franchise looking to add some punchy middle-order power and quality spin at a budget price will be very interested.

3. Sneh Rana (Delhi Capitals)

Release Price: ₹50 Lakh

T20I Stats: 31 Matches & 13 Wickets (WPL)

The decision for Delhi Capitals to lose Sneh Rana for ₹50 Lakh is a strange one. Quality spin bowler all-rounders are a rare find. With 31 T20I appearances for India and 13 wickets in the WPL, Sneh brings some great exposure and quality. Losing such an experienced International player from India is a huge risk for DC.

4. Asha Sobhana (UP Warriors)

Purchase Price: ₹1.1 Crore

WPL Stats: 20 Wickets (23 Matches)

UP Warriorz have decided to let go of Asha Sobhana after spending ₹1.1 Crore on her. She has been a quality performer throughout her time in franchise cricket, taking 20 wickets in 23 WPL matches. While she has only played 6 T20Is for India, she can open partnerships and offers quality leg-spin bowling. Another franchise will be excited to get hold of her.

5. Kiran Navgire (UP Warriors)

Release Price: ₹60 Lakh

WPL Stats: 435 Runs (31 Matches)

UP Warriorz have made a gutsy move by letting go of Kiran Navgire for ₹60 Lakh. She has been a consistent performer scoring 435 runs in 31 WPL matches. While she has only played 6 T20Is for India, she has shown her quality with her domestic form and ability to hit the ball. Any side looking to add some punchy top order will be interested.

Verdict

The WPL auction is always about getting the best value out of every spot. By letting go of quality high-impact players for such low prices, franchises have given their rivals an opportunity to gain some quality match winners very cheaply.
