Delhi: When India played the second T20 International match in its New Zealand tour, it became the second team to play 300 T20 Internationals but the first one whose record now has 200 wins. Incidentally, India also registered a win over New Zealand in this historic match (the Super Over win in these tied matches is not counted). Before this record of India at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, only Pakistan had played 300 T20 Internationals and currently they are at the top with the count of 304 matches but they have won only 176 T20 Internationals.

By the way, note that India won 6 out of the 7 tied matches, which means India's win percentage record is even better. India won 71.1 percent of the 300 matches, which is the highest among 'full member' countries. In this matter, currently Uganda is on top with 78.9 win percentage, but how much importance can be given to their record?

Record of T20 International match count of top team

West Indies: Total win percentage 45.74 on 111 wins out of 260

Sri Lanka: Total win percentage 44.39 on 105 wins out of 243

Would you believe that when the ICC proposed to play T20 International as a new format, India not only opposed it the most, India was the last major team that approved playing international matches of this format. India have come a long way since then and are playing with the identity of a powerhouse in T20 Internationals and the match and win count is proof of that.

In 2006, India played its first T20 International against South Africa in Johannesburg under the captaincy of Virender Sehwag. Survive it and lay a strong foundation for the decades to come. Even won the T20 International World Cup in 2007, 2024 and 2026.

Even though Pakistan is currently leading in the T20 International rankings, the reputation that India has as a team in this format is unmatched. For your record, let us tell you that in all three formats of cricket,

The first teams to register 200 international wins are:

England in men's test

West Indies in men's ODI

India in men's T20
