Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hasn’t played in the first four games of the ongoing series against the West Indies. The host nation stuck to their combination in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad.

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth slammed the team management for their handling of Sooryavanshi.

The 66-year-old said that the youngsters’ confidence is getting destroyed. “India have totally spoiled Vaibhav’s confidence. He could have been played in three games against West Indies. We have seen what Abhishek can do, and he can be rested. Let Sanju and Sooryavanshi open.”

Speaking about Sanju Samsonthe ex-opener said that the batter wasn’t showing the consistency that is expected of him.

The 31-year-old scored 82 in the second match in Ranchi before falling for yet another low score in the third match that was played last Sunday.

“Sanju has always been up and down, and his consistency has raised a lot of questions. He can do a lot of wonders like seen in the World Cup and then fail. Abhishek hasn’t shown such extremes. I’m sure Samson will score big in the next game,” he added.

Abhishek Nayar wants Sooryavanshi to play after series win

Meanwhile, former Indian coach Abhishek Nayar said that the Rajasthan Royals star can play for India once the series is wrapped up.

The 43-year-old said that he wants Shreyas Iyer’s team to win the game on Wednesday and give the youngster a chance during the final game in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Nayar, in his chat on Star Sports, said, “I would want India to go 3-1 up in the series, and Vaibhav plays in the last game.

Wrap up the series and let him play the last game.” The Men in Blue won the game in Indore by 14 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Vaibhav made his India debut in England, where he replaced Samson in Manchester. The batter played three games in the series and scored just 42 runs. He found his form in Zimbabwe, scoring over 150 runs and was named Player of the Series. The young sensation batted as an opener in the Asian Games 2026, while Sanju was pushed down to number three.
