Cricket Australia has named a 14-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh and the T20I series against New Zealand in October.
Cricket Australia have named the same team which have won the T20 Women’s World Cup and three match ODI series against Bangladesh earlier this year.
The ODI series will be played starting on October 09 while three match T20I series will be played starting on October 18 in Sydney.
Sophie Molineux will be leading the team, though her level of involvement will be monitored by staff as she recovers from a hip injury.
Meanwhile, Darcy Brown will miss out due to back injury, while fellow fast bowler Lucy Hamilton will sit out the three ODI with a quad strain.
Selector Shawn Flegler considers the three ICC Women’s Championship ODIs against Bangaldesh, eyeing on ICC Women’s Championship against Bangladesh, eyeing on next year’s Women’s Championship next year.
“Bangladesh will be a really good test, particularly with the quality they have in their bowling attack,” Flegler said.
“It’s also a great opportunity for our batters to get exposure to subcontinent-style bowling ahead of the Champions Trophy in India.”
The Bangladesh and New Zealand series represent an important transition for Australia. The teams features experience campaigners Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Asheleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland and Tahlia McGrath and youngsters like Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, and Lucy Hamilton.
The first match of the ODI series will be played on October 09 at Allan Border Field, Brisbane.
