The excitement of cricket lovers is at its peak for the first T20 international match to be held between India and West Indies on October 6 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the city of Nawabs. According to the latest information received from Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), the sale of tickets for this high-profile match has gained tremendous momentum and till Monday evening, about 16 thousand tickets have been sold.

UPCA’s decision to halve ticket prices pays off

The low attendance of spectators in the last few international matches held in Lucknow had worried the organizers. During the ODI match played between India and Afghanistan at Ekana Stadium on June 17, only 10 thousand tickets were sold in the stadium with a capacity of 50 thousand.

UPCA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ankit Chatterjee said that the main reason for the low number of spectators last time was the high ticket rates. To improve this situation, the association took a big decision to reduce the ticket rates for the India-West Indies match by almost half. This strategy of UPCA has proved to be very successful and this time a record breaking audience is expected.

Match on 6th October, India and West Indies teams will reach Lucknow on 4th October

This time, it is estimated that more than 35 thousand tickets will be sold till the match in Ekana Stadium with a capacity of 50 thousand spectators.

• 4 October: The national cricket teams of India and West Indies will reach Lucknow.

• 5 October: Players of both the teams will practice throughout the day at Ekana Stadium and finalize the preparations.

• 6 October: The first T-20 blockbuster match of the series will be played between India and West Indies in the evening.

Strict arrangements are being made by the local administration and the Cricket Association for security arrangements and spectator facilities in the stadium.
