RR Head Coach for IPL 2027

Kumar Sangakkara has been named as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, taking over from Rahul Dravid for the IPL 2026 season.

He took over the role after Rahul Dravid left the Royals in August following a disappointing campaign in the 2025 season of the tournament. He originally joined the Royals in January 2021 as the Director of Cricket, quickly taking up additional responsibilities as the head coach.

He was reappointed as the head coach in November 2025, uniting both backend and on-field execution under his direct leadership.

IPL 2027 RR Batting Coach

Meanwhile, Vikram Rathour, who was the batting coach in the 2025 season, has been promoted to assistant head coach for the 2026 season.

Before stepping into the international circuit, Rathour worked as a national selector for the BCCI and coached prominent domestic sides, including Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

He had a highly successful five-year tenure as India’s batting coach, working under Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid, where he was key in developing players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill.

Following India’s win in the 2024 T20 World Cup, his tenure ended with the BCCI, and he joined New Zealand as the batting consultant for the Test squad for their one-off Test against Afghanistan. In September 2024, he joined as batting coach, reuniting with Rahul Dravid.

IPL 2027 RR Bowling Coach

New Zealand cricket coach and former cricketer Shane Bond is the Assistant and Fast Bowling Coach of the Rajasthan Royals. Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has replaced Lasith Malinga as the fast bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Shane Bond also has extensive experience in handling the bowling coach role. Before heading to Rajasthan Royals, Bond served Mumbai Indians between 2015 and 2020 and played a crucial role in the franchise winning four titles.

Apart from serving as the bowling coach in the IPL, Bond also coached various teams in other domestic T20 leagues. Shane Bond became an assistant coach for the Brisbane Heat for the 2015 edition of the Big Bash League, and in March 2018, he was appointed as head coach for Sydney Thunder.
