Delhi: Kanpur's historic Green Park Cricket Stadium will soon be developed in a new and modern form. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a proposal worth about Rs 456.94 crore for its upgradation. After this the spectator capacity of the stadium will increase to about 55 thousand. If this happens, Green Park can become the largest capacity cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh.

Will be equipped with modern facilities

New spectator galleries and modern training facilities will be built in the stadium.

Apart from this, indoor and outdoor pitches will also be prepared for the players to practice. Even in the VVIP area many new facilities will be added.

Culture of Uttar Pradesh will be visible

A glimpse of the culture and identity of Uttar Pradesh will be seen in the new design of the Green Park. The outer part of the audience gallery will be made arched. Shapes inspired by reindeer, stork and Palash flower will also be included in the design.

Special gallery for 15 thousand people

Under the plan, there is a proposal to build a three-storey VVIP gallery, which will have seating arrangements for about 15 thousand people.

At the same time, special facilities will be provided for about 500 VVIP guests.

The work will be completed in six months

At present, Green Park has a seating capacity of more than 32 thousand spectators. After redevelopment, its capacity will be more than that of Ekana Stadium of Lucknow which has about 50 thousand seats.

It is noteworthy that this stadium of Kanpur has been hosting very few international matches for the last few years, but now after its reconstruction, the situation may change, and this stadium may again become popular at the international level.
