DelhiAlthough Zimbabwe's performance in the three-match ODI series against Australia was not as expected, but in the last match, the team made a record which had never happened before in the history of ODI cricket. In the third ODI played at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe lost to Australia by 1 wicket and the visiting team won the series 3-0. However, in this match, Zimbabwe's playing eleven created history.

Zimbabwe made a unique record

Zimbabwe's playing eleven included four players whose age was more than 40 years. Graeme Creamer returned to the team just a day after his birthday. This 40-year-old all-rounder came to play ODI match for Zimbabwe after almost eight years. He had earlier played ODI against UAE in 2018.

With the inclusion of four 40+ players in the playing eleven, Zimbabwe became the first Test playing nation to do so. This is only the third time in the history of ODI cricket, when a team has fielded four players above 40 years of age in a match.

Earlier, in the first ODI of this series, Zimbabwe had made a record of becoming the first full member team to include three 40+ players in the playing eleven.

Zimbabwe lost in a thrilling match

In the match, Zimbabwe batted first and scored 271 runs. Captain Sikandar Raza played the highest innings of 81 runs. While chasing the target, Josh Inglis scored a brilliant century of 103 runs for Australia. However, the team was in trouble at one time.

Nathan Ellis gave Australia a thrilling victory by scoring unbeaten 36 runs in 44 balls. They made an unbeaten partnership of 27 runs for the last wicket. Australia won the match by 1 wicket and won the series 3-0.
