Delhi:On Saturday, West Indies announced its ODI and T20 team for the upcoming limited overs series against India. Three ODI and five T20 International matches will be played between the two teams from 27 September to 18 October. The series matches will be held in eight different cities of India.

Shai Hope will lead both the West Indies teams. While the team management has expressed confidence in the players who have performed well in the recent series in ODI, at the same time, keeping the future in mind, some new faces have also been given a chance in the T20 team.

This player returned to West Indies ODI team

John Campbell has returned to the West Indies ODI team. Due to hamstring injury, he could not play in the last two ODI matches against New Zealand.

At the same time, Akeem Auguste will not be a part of the India tour due to injury. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation after surgery in August. In his place, Jewel Andrew has been included in the team, who will be an option to bat in the top and middle order.

This new player gets a chance in the T20 team

The most talked about person in the T20 team is Kamil Puran. This young opening batsman has got a place in the West Indies T20 International team for the first time. Kamil has caught the attention of selectors with his recent performance. He has scored 273 runs in eight innings. During this period, his strike rate was 159.64, while the average was 39.

West Indies has clearly indicated through this selection that the team wants to prepare young players from now on, keeping in mind the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Hetmyer also entered the T20 team

Shimron Hetmyer has also been included in the T20 team. He played the last two matches of the series against New Zealand. After CPL, he was given extra time for recovery and now he will join the team in the T20 series against India.

At the same time, Quinton Sampson has also got a place in the team. He was a part of the West Indies team for the ICC T20 World Cup played in India this year. All-rounder Jason Holder has been rested for this series.

The West Indies team will leave from the Caribbean on 21st September and reach Thiruvananthapuram on 23rd September. The ODI and T20 series between India and West Indies will start from September 27.
