Troubles don’t seem to end for out-of-favor India batter Prithvi Shaw. Akriti Agarwal and Prithvi have parted ways a few months after their engagement. She announced the decision on Instagram in a long and emotional post.

“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiance and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future. As much as we love and care for each other, we’ve come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. With our responsibilities and the circumstances we are currently facing, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote.

“I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward. I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time and refrain from speculating or making assumptions about the reasons behind our decision. Thank you for understanding and respecting our space,” she added.

The pair got engaged in March this year and posted pictures of their big day. It seemed that the Delhi Capitals star was finally going to settle down, but the new development has surprised everyone. The 26-year-old has removed all the engagement photos from social media.

Bright start to current struggles

Having made his name as a young schoolboy talent, the youngster was compared to the great Sachin Tendulkar. Shaw captained the Under-19 World Cup side, which also had Shubman Gill in 2018, and won the title after beating Australia in the final. He also made his Test debut against West Indies and scored a ton in 2018.

Fitness issues and disciplinary problems impacted the batter who was once touted as the future star. Prithvi last played for India in 2021 and hasn’t been in the selectors’ plans since then. The closest he came to the national team was in early 2023 when he was named in the T20I squad for the home series against New Zealand but did not play any game.

He was part of the Delhi Capitals squad in IPL 2026 but was not included in the playing XI. He is just 26 and has time to get back to his best and fulfil the promise that he showed early in his career.
