ENG vs SL 2nd T20I Playing 11: Harry Brook-led England will square off against Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I to be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
England secured a 1-0 lead with an 119-run victory against Sri Lanka and will be aiming for a win to secure the series. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will be aiming for a win on English soil.
The cricketing sides have met on 19 occasions in the short format, where England have 15 wins while Sri Lanka have 4 wins.
England won the toss and opted to bowl. During the toss, England Captain Harry Brook said, “We will bowl first. We have been very consistent in an inconsistent format. It is good to see everyone buy into what we are trying to achieve.”
“I’m enjoying it, and any time you play for England, it is good fun. That was all Baz’s idea. Thankfully, I’ve managed to get a few out of the middle.”
“We want to get back to No. 1 in the world, and the consistency we are bringing is awesome to see.”
Speaking on today’s England Cricket team playing 11, Brook said, “We’ve got one change, with Jofra Archer replacing Josh Tongue.”
Meanwhile, Charith Asalanka said, “I would have bowled too. Thirteen losses is too much. We want to break that rhythm and play good cricket. We know England are consistent, so we have to be spot-on in all three departments. We have to come back well and forget Tuesday night.”
Speaking on today’s Sri Lanka cricket team playing 11, Asalanka said, “We have two changes. Tharindu Ratnayake is making his debut, replacing Dunith Wellalage. Dilshan Madushanka is also in for Maheesh Theekshana.”
